NAVY CLEAN II PROJECT

Provided services as Technical Lead for a Long-Term Groundwater Monitoring Program at a then-operating former southern California Department of Defense installation. Project objective: monitoring groundwater regime in proximity to known contaminant plumes to facilitate site closure and property transfer. Responsibilities included technical management and implementation of a 2-year groundwater-monitoring program. Tasks included: coordination of work-plan preparation team; determination of work plan technical content; coordination of technical resources required for work plan preparation;Flag scheduling and preparation of work plan; scheduling, coordination, and technical oversight of field activities required for work plan implementation; program data evaluation; and coordination and implementation of quarterly, biannual, and annual report preparation.

NAVY CLEAN II PROJECT

Naval ShipProvided services as Technical Lead for an Environmental Site Inspection conducted at a then-operating southern California Department of Defense installation. Project duties included: groundwater monitoring well design; installation and sampling of wells; performance of tidal study utilizing groundwater monitoring hardware (dataloggers and pressure transducers) and tidal-chart software; preparation of descriptive site geologic logs; site hydrogeologic assessment; site background review; regional geologic and hydrogeologic data evaluation; and report preparation.

Provided Ecological Risk Assessment of previous National Aeronautics and Space Administration operations at an operating southern California Department of Defense installation. Project duties included evaluation of soil and groundwater contamination, originating at former NASA installation, and the potential impact on biological resources inhabiting the adjacent National Wildlife Refuge, located within the military installation.

Note: Successful completion of this project led to requests for presentation of project details at national and international environmental seminars, as well as to publication of a project-summary article in a national environmental technical periodical.

NAVY CLEAN II PROJECT

Provided services as Technical Field Lead for an Environmental Removal Site Evaluation conducted at an operating southern California Department of Defense installation. Project duties included evaluation of remnant contaminants contained in chemical storage tanks and associated piping, as well as characterization of soil and groundwater contamination, originating at former NASA installation, and the potential impact on biological resources inhabiting the adjacent National Wildlife Refuge, located within the military installation. Duties also included project report preparation and administrative duties.
